Chinaco Tequila: A Legacy of Tradition and Craftsmanship in Every Bottle
Share
The history of Chinaco Tequila has been well documented. The story starts in the 18th century and tells about independent landowners. The story goes on to tell you how the landowners had to fight during the Reform War & the French Intervention. These warriors came to be known as the Chinaco warriors. They had fought bravely to protect Mexico & the people.
Chinaco Tequila was founded in 1972 in Tamaulipas by its founder Guillermo González Díaz Lombardo. This is the only distillery authorized to produce an ultra-premium tequila in Tamaulipas. 11 years later, it entered the United States & was one of the first premium tequilas to hit the shelves.
Still to this day, Chinaco Tequila is a family-owned business with employees that have worked there for 20, 30, & 40 years. You work for someone that long, and your family becomes their family. So you can say it is one big family! Everyone takes much pride in making this award-winning tequila.
Today we are going to talk about the Anejo. Let me start and say that the aroma of this tequila is so unique. Very complex, but in a perfect way. It is aged 2-1/2 years in 35 to 45-year-old French & English white oak barrels and American bourbon barrels. Right off the bat, you can smell those old cognac barrels. As you continue to take it all in, you pick up on the butterscotch, vanilla, butter, oak, and that wonderfully cooked agave. It is like a symphony. The flavor is just as wonderful. All those notes hit your tongue, and your taste buds start to dance. There is not much pepper or an intense alcohol burn. You can taste all of those aromas. The oils relax on your tongue & you can continue to enjoy this tequila for some time. Did I mention this tequila has some serious legs? This is a silky-smooth tequila that I am enjoying writing about and drinking.
I have the Reposado & the Blanco as well. So stay tuned to hear my thoughts on these other expressions. I will also have to find that 50th Anniversary to tell you about that one too.
